Nice! That's exactly what I need.įor you, I'd suggest taking it slowly. In addition, there are many quizzes and it seems they're randomly generated based on how you've progressed up to that point. I am an auditory-tactile learner, so being able to touch it and hear it (virtually every Japanese word and sentence in HJ is linked to a dictionary, a detailed explanation and is voiced) does wonders for my comprehension and retention. The best part of HJ for me is the fact that virtually everything is voiced and touchable. Heck, had I been able to start with and follow through with HJ as a Beginner, I might be an Intermediate by now! His writing style is warm and conversational, and he writes as if his audience is adult, self-study learners (that's me!!!). It's well presented and it flows quite organically. For you, I assume it will take a bit longer, but that's ok. Sign me up!įor me, as an Upper Beginner, HJ1 is review, so I skimmed a lot. And I just found out yesterday that there's a corresponding website to take one to the next level. I downloaded the iPad trial and WOW!!! I LOVE it! So much so that after completing the free trial, I purchased the full version along with its companion app, Human Japanese Intermediate (you get a big price break on getting the bundle). Now that I have an iPad (got it 2 weeks ago, yay!), I figured I'd give it another go. I had tried the free trial several years ago, but it was too hard to do on my phone, so I deleted it and moved on to other things. Just this past weekend, I re-discovered the Human Japanese app. I'd classify myself as an Upper Beginner at best (and that's being very generous!). I've been doing self-study of Japanese for several years and although I'm technically not a Beginner, per se, I'm far, far, far from fluent. /r/JapanResidents (for people who live in Japan only). To create furigana in your posts, use the following syntax: (#fg "かんじ") Whether you're a beginner or an expert in the Japanese Language, our index of resources might come in handy.
